Rainforest Walk. Just opposite of Arumeru River Lodge, Meru Forest begins. This is an area of giant rainforest trees and natural springs. A 2.5 hours walk is guided by an experienced Maasai of Arumeru River Lodge who will make you familiar with the botanical, zoological and cultural beauties of this region. On the walk huge Mahogany Trees, Wild Figs and giant ferns can be observed. Blue Monkeys and the rare Black and White Colobus are often spotted not more than 10 meters up in the trees. Marabou Storks, Ibis and Hornbill can frequently be seen along the way.The rainforest suffers from deforestation. 50% of the tour fees are donated to the district council who has started a conservation program for the forest.
